For the past several weeks we have been working on informational writing about our nature name animals.  We began by talking about the purpose of informational writing: to teach others about a given topic.  With this in mind, we brainstormed questions someone might have about an animal.  Some of our initial questions included what color is the animal, does it have feathers, does it fly, where does it live, does it hunt other animals,  and is it soft.  From this list we focused on what does the animal look like, what does it eat, where does it live, and one other interesting fact unique to each animal.  We will be turning these pages into books in the next couple of weeks.  Once we have shared the books with our reading buddies they will come home.
